Curled in Ice

Holed away in a log cabin in the mountains, Krita is becoming frantic to find one of zir beloved cryptids only seen in myths, the Tazzlebeast itself. Zir deaf girlfriend, Florentine, is more worried about trying to impress Krita, who she has only known as a friend from her college years... up until recently. Ze has been distant for some time.

A visual novel created for the Toxic Yuri VN Jam! Version 1.0 is the version originally submitted to this jam.

This is a game intended for mature audiences, with the following topics included:

• Suicidal ideation
• References to sex
• Ableism
• Identity repression
• Gaslighting

An interactive visual novel created in Ren'py. Curled in Ice has 4 different endings, is written in English and translated to American Sign Language (with near-complete signs matching the written dialogue!), a puzzle, and around 40 CGs. 

This game is dedicated to our friend, SketchyNonsense.

The Team

Scoliwings is a deaf 2D animator familiar with Ren'py, having created a couple visual novels previously - this VN is their first game jam project. They are responsible for all animations, ASL direction, script editing, talk sprites, character programming, GUI creation, and created the character Florentine.

Lunar Crossing normally makes visual novels in Tyrano, but CiI is their first Ren'py project. They are responsible for the production management, all full-screen art, the thumbnail on this page, interactive programming, artistic direction, cryptid research, and created the character Krita.
